The ALPS Mountaineering King Kong chair is a beast when it comes to comfort. The first time I sat in this chair I was blown away by the thick padding on the seat and the adjustable armrests. Being a big guy I was impressed by the construction of the chair, 1/2 inch powder coated steel bars, it’s built to last. Despite the weight and bulk of the chair it’s actually pretty light and easy to carry. It packs into a durable carry bag with two adjustable backpack style straps making it easy to transport. But I did notice the chair holds water and is not very breathable, so if you’re camping in a humid or wet environment this could be a drawback.

The GCI Outdoor Freestyle Rocker was a total game changer for me. I’ve always been a rocker chair fan and finding this portable rocker was like a dream come true. The spring loaded shocks give a smooth rocking experience, like you’re sitting in a rocking chair on your porch at home. The 14.2” seat height is also comfortable. The chair is heavy, 12.2 pounds, so not ideal for long distance carrying. And the feet can be squeaky on hard surfaces and a little loose. But overall I love the GCI Outdoor Freestyle Rocker as an addition to my camping gear.

But I still think it’s good value for money especially if you’re on a tight budget.

Not only is it light but also easy to set up, it’s a great option for budget conscious campers like me. I found it a bit tricky to fold the chair back up and put it in the bag. Also the weight capacity is lower than some of the other chairs on this list so if you’re a bigger person this might be a consideration. But overall I think the Moon Lence Camping Chair is great value for the price especially if you prioritize compactness and affordability.

It’s the first chair I’ve seen that has a reclining feature, thanks to the Y-molded ball-and-socket connectors and adjustable toggles and straps. All that luxury comes at a cost and the Nemo Stargaze Reclining Camp Chair is on the higher end at $249! It can also pitch forward if not set up correctly or on uneven terrain. A few minor drawbacks but I think this is a great chair for campers who like to lounge and recline in their chairs, as this camping chair review shows. In fact many campers say it’s the most comfortable camping chair they’ve ever used.
